Who We Are
The Colorado State Square Dance Association (CSSDA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving square dancing across the state of Colorado. We connect dancers, clubs, callers, and cuers through four regional area councils, bringing together a statewide community united by a shared love of dance.
Our Mission
To promote square and round dancing throughout Colorado by supporting local clubs, organizing festivals and events, providing resources for dancers and callers, and welcoming new dancers into the activity — regardless of age, background, or experience.
What We Do
- Support Local Clubs — We connect dozens of clubs across four regions, giving them a shared platform and statewide visibility.
- Organize Events & Festivals — From weekly club dances to the annual Colorado State Festival, we help coordinate a full calendar of square dance activity.
- Champion New Dancers — We make it easy to find beginner classes and try square dancing for the first time.
- Preserve a Tradition — Square dancing has deep roots in Colorado and American culture. We’re committed to keeping it alive for future generations.
Our Structure
CSSDA is organized into four area councils, each serving clubs and dancers in their region:
- Mountains & Plains Area Square Dance Council (MAPSDC)
- Denver Area Square & Round Dance Council (DASRDC)
- Southeast Area Square Dance Council (SEASDC)
- Colorado West Area Square Dance Council (CWASRDC)
Together, these councils represent clubs, callers, cuers, and dancers from every corner of the state.
